International Solidarity Festival

From Friday 15 November to Saturday 30 November 2024
Lyon (Lyon city hall, and then the city and metropolitan area of Lyon) - France
City of Lyon (co-organiser)
With La Maison des Solidarités Locales et Internationales (https://maisondessolidarites.org/)

The International Solidarity Festival is the place to be to promote and celebrate solidarity that is open to the world and to others. It’s an opportunity for all those who want to promote a fairer, more equitable society that is more respectful of the environment and of differences, to go and meet the agents of change who are carrying out actions in Lyon and internationally, to listen to inspiring testimonials and to take part in debates that provide the keys to taking action on our own scale.

The Festival is organised around a number of highlights:

– 15 November – A day dedicated to young people : Since 2021, the Festival has included a day dedicated to young people (schoolchildren and students), as part of an educational approach to opening up to others, enabling the youngest visitors to gain a better understanding of the world around them, to become aware of the interdependencies that bind us together and to meet others, while respecting our differences.

– 16 November – Launch of the International Solidarity Festival : A festive and collective highlight, this day is aimed at citizens who want to spend a convivial moment in the presence of 45 associations working in 9 areas of solidarity: local and solidarity-based economy, health, access to education, access to water and food, welcoming and integrating, living together, environment, media and commitment.

– From 17 to 30 November – The Festival is alive and kicking across the territory : over 50 events are being put on by local associations. It’s a unique opportunity to meet the people involved and discover their actions, in all their richness and diversity. On the programme : workshops, games, debates, conferences, discussions, screenings, exhibitions, shows, open days, urban walks, artistic performances and lots of other activities.
