The Sahara, people without land

From Monday 18 November to Monday 2 December 2024
Plaça de la Vila, 1, Santa Maria del Camí, Spain
Santa Maria del Camí

This exhibition takes a chronological tour of the history of the Sahrawi people from the time of the Spanish colonization of the Western Sahara to the current stagnation of a situation that is still legally the responsibility of the Spanish state. In addition, it highlights certain aspects such as the characteristics and functioning of the Tindouf refugee camps in Algeria, where the government-in-exile resides; the wall that separates the area occupied by Morocco from the territories liberated by the Polisario Front; and the fundamental role played by women in the organization of services and the daily life of refugees.
