A lung of the planet, a biodiversity reserve, a bulwark against rising waters, Cameroon’s mangrove is currently threatened by uncontrolled logging and climate change. Women who cultivate the fields daily experience the effects of extreme weather events. In the South, on dry land, thousands of hectares of forest are sacrificed for agro-industrial monocultures of rubber and palm oil: an economic choice that seems essential for the country’s development, but which generates greenhouse gases and disrupts both wildlife and plant life.
